Port Stephens Koala Hospital
Rescuing, rehabilitating and protecting koalas and native wildlife.

Port Stephens Koala Hospital is a not-for-profit organisation with the mission to protect, care for and rehabilitate koalas so they can thrive in their natural habitat. We are also a fully accredited wildlife hospital treating and caring for native wildlife across the Port Stephens, Hunter and Newcastle regions. Our dedicated team of specialist veterinary and wildlife rehabilitator staff along with high experienced and trained volunteer carers ensures that koalas and native wildlife have the best chance to thrive in the wild for generations to come.
With over 230 volunteers, we are a key organisation supporting our local community as well as koalas in our region.
We welcome volunteers, business support and partners and also support the specialists and carers of tomorrow with education program and placements. In addition we are undertaken groundbreaking research into koala chlamydia and koala retrovirus disease to inform future diagnoses and treatments in our modern hospital with advanced technology including CT Scan, X-ray and PCR equipment and fully equipped ICUs.
